This article examines sexual activity, safe sex practices, and HIV and AIDS knowledge and awareness among South African adolescents.  The authors raise concerns that teenagers' knowledge about AIDS is inadequate given the high levels of infection in South Africa.  Furthermore, their findings suggest that many junior high school students have had multiple partners, and that the rate of consistent condom use during intercourse remains low.
