This paper examines trends in the sexual activity, contraceptive use, and rates of pregnancy, births and abortions of teenage girls.  It also estimates the costs, both monetary and otherwise, of adolescent sexual activity. The research indicates that the more costly sex is in terms of health concerns or in financial expense, the less likely teens' are to engage in sexual activity, and the more likely they are to use contraceptives.
