Women’s Sexual Control within Conjugal Union: Implications for HIV/AIDS Infection and Control in a Metropolitan City

This study, conducted in Lagos, Nigeria, examines women's control over sexual relations within marriage and the implications of this for the spread of HIV/AIDS.  It finds that women have limited control in this respect, particularly in negotiating safe sexual practices.  The authors suggest that both men and women need to be educated on the need for safer sex in order to control the spread of AIDS.
