This paper examines the extent to which adolescents engage in sexual activity outside of romantic relationships. The impact of factors such as family structure, household income, education, family size, religious commitment, parenting styles, peer relations, neighbourhood environment, age, gender, and race on this type of sexual activity is also discussed.
