This report examines the sexual activity of 12 and 13 year old Canadian children, and the factors that may influence rates of sexual activity amongst this age group. It finds that, while the majority of children in this age category are not sexually active, a significant number are. Their decisions to engage in such activity are related to a number of factors, including puberty, school attachment, church attendance, and participation in volunteer activities.
