This study found that family connectedness was an important protective factor for youth, and that high levels of perceived family connectedness were associated with a decreased likelihood of teenage sex and pregnancy.  It suggests that any programs seeking to reduce risky sexual behaviour among teens must take into consideration the important role of family relationships.
