This paper studies the impact of single-parent families on teenagers, and explores the relationship between parental absence and adolescents substance abuse, crime, and sexual activity. Its research suggests that, depending upon the age of the child at the time of separation, parental absence is a significant factor in a number of deviant and risky behaviours.
