This article provides information regarding the sexual experiences of American young people and the number of sexual partners they have had.  It demonstrates that young age at first sexual encounter and the use of alcohol and drugs increases the likelihood that a young person will have multiple partners.  It argues that young people need to be better educated about the risk of sexually transmitted diseases and the effects that alcohol consumption has on their choice of sexual partners.
