Based on the 2002 National Survey of Family Growth, the authors develop a portrait of multi-partner fertility among men 15 – 44 years of age in the U.S. The study found that these men tend to be older, have had early sexual involvement, fathered children at a young age, were not married or cohabitating with the mother at the time of birth and have been incarcerated and used drugs. The authors call for further study in this area.
