This paper compares Zimbabwean young peoples' views about condom use and abstinence to the beliefs underlying government policies and religious beliefs.  The authors suggest that conservative policymakers and religious leaders, who teach abstinence only, result in limited contraceptive choices for sexually active youth.  They suggest that, given the prevalence of HIV among adolescents in this country, leaders should focus less on abstinence and more on supporting safe sexual practices.
