This study explores the extent to which adolescent childbearing preferences are affected by their perceived risk of acquiring HIV.  It finds that, while it is not the only consideration, the desirability of childbearing is decreased for many by the recognition that the unprotected sex required for conception puts them, and any child they may conceive, at risk of contracting HIV.
