This paper compares the laws limiting reproductive technologies such as genetic screening, abortion, assisted reproduction, embryonic stem cell research and preimplantation genetic diagnosis in Germany and the United States.  The author finds that Germany is far more protective of fetuses and embryos and has banned practices such as genetic freezing and embryonic stem cell research, which are permitted in the United States.
