This paper examines the effects of maternal and paternal pattern of sharing parental leave on the likelihood of continued childbearing.  It hypothesizes that paternal uptake of extended leave represents his commitment to childbearing and should predict future fertility.  It finds some support for this claim, as moderately-long paternal leave is associated with increased probability of subsequent childbearing.
