This paper provides a good summary and analysis of no-fault divorce legislation in Canada.  The author argues that no-fault divorce law was not an accident but the result of economic changes in the 1950s and 1960s.  These changes, namely, the entrance of women into the workforce, caused some marriages to become 'inefficient' and divorce more 'efficient' economically speaking, after women began work outside of the home.
