Vietnamese Refugees: Crime Rates of Minors and Youths in New South Wales
| This paper examines the nature and extent of criminal activity in New South Wales for unaccompanied Vietnamese immigrant youth. It investigates the outcomes for young immigrants who arrive without family, and looks at whether factors such as stress, anxiety and social isolation lead to higher crime rates. It finds that strong cultural values act as deterrents to crime for these particular youth and thus crime rates are not as high as portrayed by the media. |
