This paper demonstrates that many American parents have poor health behaviours that include smoking, drinking, being overweight and sedentary, and not receiving adequate health care.  It asserts that parents are important role models for their children and therefore, in order to encourage their children to adopt a healthy lifestyle, it is important for them to be healthy themselves.
