This paper examines the effects of welfare reform on health insurance coverage, use of health care services, and self-reported health among women aged 20 to 45.  It finds that welfare reforms tend to have a negative effect on health insurance and health care use, but no effect on health status.  It also finds that these negative effects tend to be greatest for Hispanics and those with low levels of education.
