This paper uses adoption laws as a case study to assess the effects of same-sex marriage on parenthood in Canada.  It explores underlying assumptions in Canadian society about the value of raising children with a biological mother and father and shows how adoption laws privilege the natural family.  The author argues that same-sex marriage will inevitably lead to the abolition of the traditional mode of parenthood and the natural family.
