This paper discusses some of the ethical controversy surrounding multiple pregnancies which may occur as the result of some forms of assisted reproductive technology.  The ESHRE Task Force on Ethics and Law recommends only single embryos be transferred to women to avoid multiple pregnancies and also recommends that multiple pregnancies be recorded as complications, instead of successes.
