This report looks at the number of children who receive nonparental before and after school care, and at the types of arrangements made by parents. It examines the experiences of children who are in relative care, non-relative care, center or school-based programs, before and after-school activities, and self-care. It also finds that, in 2001, 20% of all children received before-school care, while 50% received nonparental care after school.
