This paper examines differences in the child care patterns and activities of mothers and fathers.  It concludes that fathers have significantly more choice than women about when, if at all, they will care for their children, as well as the activities they will perform.  It also finds that women are more likely to peform the more routine and unpleasant  tasks of parenthood and to perform child care simultaneously with other tasks.
