In this paper the authors review findings relating to the prevlanence and frequency of corporal punishment use by American parents and hypothesize that the more corporal punishment a child experiences, the less likely it is that he/she will complete a post-secondary education.  They find some support for this hypothesis, but conclude that further research must be done to ensure that this correlation is meaningful and not spurious.
