This paper presents the results of a survey that investigated public perceptions of corporal punishment and parental discipline practices. It also examined the extent to which the public was aware of and/or involved in child abuse prevention and the use of home visitation and support services. An analysis of changes to public opinions and behaviours over time is also included. Among other things, the authors document a decline in the use of corporal punishment and a relatively stable use of "less authoritarian" discipline methods.
