This paper investigates the effects of marriage, cohabitation and relationship stability on adolescents' cognitive, social, and emotional well-being.  It finds that outcomes are best for adolescents living with stably married parents, although the entry of adolescent mothers into a marital union is associated with negative outcomes.  Even when family relationships are stable, living with a single parent or cohabiting parents is associated with more problematic outcomes.
