This study utilizes census data from the United States and Canada to examine the growing tendency of people marrying someone of the same level of education. The study suggests that this tendency is driven by changes at the top and bottom of the educational hierarchy while noting several exceptions in some populations. The authors comment that the growing educational homogamy could potentially increases family income differences.
