This paper looks at the background and characteristics of the divorced population in Britain in order to better understand the breakdown of marriage. The research suggests that individuals who enter into serious relationships at an early age, cohabit, have financial difficulties, or have experienced parental divorce or childhood emotional trauma, are at higher risk for divorce.
