This paper examines differences between married and unmarried parents, as well as differences among unmarried couples, to determine what factors are important in predicting marriage potential.  It looks at differences in human capital, financial resources, marriage and gender role attitudes, and relationship quality.  It finds inconclusive results based on these variables and concludes that couples' expectations of marriage are the most important predictor of marriage.
