This study investigates work- and family-related factors that act as incentives or disincentives to fathers' involvement in the lives of their children.  It finds that positive attitudes towards marriage, a flexible work schedule, a family-friendly work environment, and having an agreed-upon schedule of shared childrearing are important contributors to father involvement.  The absence of these factors is associated with a lack of involvement.
