The question, “The federal government is considering changing the definition of marriage –from a union of a man and a woman to one that could include same-sex couples. If a referendum was held on this issue, how would you vote?” was put to 1,006 Canadians at the end of October, 2002.  45% said ‘yes’, 47% said ‘no’, and 8% had no response.  The poll also shows provincial and other demographic breakdowns.
