Using information from the Fragile Families Study, this paper seeks to explain the relationship between marriage, economic status, and the reduction of child poverty. The research indicates that President Bush's plan to promote healthy marriages will increase marriage rates of unwed mothers, thereby decreasing child poverty levels in the United States.
