This paper reviews the links between religious commitment and positive family functioning, child and family outcomes, and social connections.  It also describes current measures of religiosity and spirituality in families, identifies gaps in the knowledge of this subject, and recommends new measures that take into consideration the wider expression of spirituality and religion.   Finally, it recommends further research to explore the relationships between these new measures of religiosity and family well-being.
