This study examines how twentieth century magazines depict the acceptability of single parent families, the impact of single parenting on children, and the factors that contribute to the formation of a single-parent family.  It also discusses how changes to the magazine industry, changing demographics, and changing socio-economic and political variables could have contributed to these social shifts.
