Using data from the the National Longitudinal Survey of Children and Youth (NLSCY), this report  seeks to explain children's outcomes in terms of family background, family processes, and community factors. The results of this study show that although the Hampton/Sussex region is primarily composed of low socio-economic communities and there are relatively few available resources, the physical health and the cognitive and behavioual development of its children are on par with the national averages.
