This report presents the findings of a 1998 survey that asked teens, teachers, and principals about their attitudes on substance abuse and their understanding of the prevalence of the problem.  This survey found that drugs are a major problem for many teens, even from the earliest teen years, and that many teachers and principals are unaware of the extent to which drugs are available in their schools.  It also found that parental involvement and religious affiliation were important protective factors for youth.
