This paper examines trends of marital and nonmarital separation in Canada including how employment outside the home, school enrollment, pregnancy, children and age may influence changes in union life.  The study concludes that Canadian unions have become less permanent, which is concerning as partners who were not raised in "intact" family settings are more likely to end their own unions.
