This paper explores the effects of internal migration on the reproductive behaviours of females in post-war Austria and Poland.  It finds that non-migrants in urban areas have significantly lower fertility rates than non-migrants in rural areas, and that individuals who move tend to adopt the fertility behaviour that predominates in their new location.  Furthermore, it finds that women who move because of union formation have a higher likelihood of experiencing a first birth than those who do not.
