This paper examines the effects of sex ratios on the union formation, labour force participation, and earnings of the children and grandchildren of immigrants.  It finds that, where sex ratios are high (i.e. more men than women), rates of female marriage are higher, female employment is lower, and male incomes are higher.  It also suggests that high sex ratios increase females' bargaining power in the marriage market.
