This paper looks at the impact that geographic location has on the changing demographics of child poverty in the United States.  It demonstrates that, as of 2003, two thirds of all children in poverty lived either in the south or in the west.  It also shows that rural children in these regions are more likely to be poor than their urban counterparts.
