This paper looks at older people's experience with AIDS, both through personal infection and, more commonly, through the illness and death of their adult children.  Although a significant number of older people are directly infected, particularly in developing countries, many more are indirectly affected as a result of the infection of a family member.  The authors suggest that it is important to recognize that many people are affected by AIDS even if they are not personally infected.
