This paper studies trends in childlessness in Britain, and examines the reasons why women are choosing not to have children. Its research indicates that today's women have more negative views of the economics and responsibilities of parenthood, as well as an increasing desire for employment and a higher quality of life than motherhood offers.  These attitudes have affected fertility patterns in the UK.
