This study of adolescent girls in high risk neighbourhoods examines factors that either protect them from or put them at risk for early sexual activity and teenage pregnancy.  It finds that having married parents, being involved in the community, having a network of support that includes adults, and having a high perception of social support from neighbours all act as protective factors for at-risk teenagers.
