This paper examines data on the educational performance of children from financially disadvantaged backgrounds, and looks at how factors influencing socio-economic status affect a child's education. Its research indicates that gender, parental education, housing and neighbourhood composition, age, and unexplained absences all contribute significantly to academic performance.
