This paper examines the relationship between poverty and child development and looks at how family income impacts child health, behaviour, social interactions, academic performance, and involvement in recreational activities. It finds that children from low-income families experience a number of developmental problems and suggests that the definition of poverty be redefined to encompass a wider range of economic hardship.
