Using data from the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth, this paper explores how the relationship between school, family, and location influences adolescents’ development and their adult economic outcomes. It indicates that an individual's background, schooling and neighbourhood composition have significant impacts on their earning capacity and poverty risk as adults.
