This paper examines fertility patterns in cohabiting unions and investigates racial differences in attitudes concerning the acceptability of cohabitation.  It finds that Hispanics are more likely than Whites or African Americans to have a child while in a cohabiting union, suggesting wider acceptance of this type of relationship among this ethnic group.
