This paper looks at the relationship between parenthood status and men's union formation in the US. Its research indicates that men who have children are less likely to get married but are more likely to enter into subsequent unions than men who are not fathers. It also finds that the more men are involved with their non-resident children, the higher the likelihood of them entering into a cohabiting relationship.
