This paper examines the health of lone mothers over time and compares it to the health of mothers in dual parent homes. The research suggests that there is no substantial improvement in the overall health of long-term lone mothers over new lone-mothers, and that prolonged exposure to the circumstances of single-parenthood has a negative effect on maternal health.
