This paper examines the effects of family size on children's educational attainment in Norway.  It finds that as family size increases, children's educational attainment decreases.  The authors find, however, that this is related more to birth order than to family size, as older children in a family generally attain higher levels of education than younger ones.  They suggest that models of family composition and fertility should focus on differences within families, as well as differences between them.
