This report examines fertility patterns and decision making in Australia.  Despite declining fertility rates and delayed childbearing, it finds that most couples still wish to have children. Its results show, however, that many couples feel that there are "pre-conditions" such as financial and relational stability, that must be met before they start a family.  The authors suggest that if these pre-conditions could be met by couples earlier in life, fertility rates would increase.
