This paper examines the effects of maternal education on children's educational outcomes.  It finds that there is a positive correlation between the two, as children whose mothers are highly educated are more likely to be highly educated themselves.  However, in the population as a whole, these benefits are less evident due to a reduction in childbearing among more highly educated women.
